In 2023, 60 participants came together across five workshops to share their insights on the future of the apparel industry.

Summary of Use:

Citrus Circular was the lead organization, the purpose of the workshops was to create an inclusive space to vision what a circular apparel industry could look like. Participants included diverse group of individuals with experience in the circular economy and/or apparel and textile industries, all of whom were committed to advancing a regenerative vision for the industry.

Use Experience:

I believe we had an incredibly successful workshop using the 3H framework in part because I went through the training and had the chance to understand the tool and how to run a workshop using the tool.

We prepared participants in advance on what questions we would be discussing as well as provided them with the videos on the framework and mindsets. This allowed participants to come in well aware of the work that we would be doing.

Impact:

The results of our work were organized into a paper that we published. While the paper provided a tangible output, for most participants they found that being in a diverse space and using a framework that allowed for difficult conversations was deeply meaningful in being heard and seen.

Scoping Statement:

Of Something… The future of a circular economy in the apparel industry over the next 20years.

By Someone… Stakeholders in the industry who are interested in exploring circular as a possible future.

For Purpose… Convening to create a vision to transform our economy towards one that is inclusive and regenerative.

What do we mean by sustainability?

We need to achieve a sustainable balance of meeting the needs of both people and planet and not focusing on one to the detriment of the other – harmonising people, planet and prosperity.

When considering business sustainability we look at how the firm (positively or negatively) impacts our Earth system and society (inside-out), and how our Earth system and society may (positively or negatively) impact a firm’s ability to achieve its objectives (outside-in).
